Gamma Ray Sources
Gamma ray sources are astronomical objects that emit high-energy electromagnetic radiation known as gamma rays. These sources can include phenomena such as supernovae, neutron stars, and black holes. Gamma rays are produced during extreme events, like the collapse of massive stars or the interactions of cosmic rays with matter.
On Earth, gamma rays can also be generated by radioactive materials, such as uranium and radium, as well as in medical applications like radiation therapy. Scientists use gamma ray telescopes to study these sources in space, helping to expand our understanding of the universe and its most energetic processes.
