Gabrieli
Gabrieli refers to a family of Italian composers from the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods, most notably Giovanni Gabrieli and his nephew Andrea Gabrieli. They were known for their contributions to sacred music, particularly in the development of polychoral compositions, which involved multiple choirs singing together. Their works often featured rich harmonies and innovative use of instruments.
Giovanni Gabrieli served at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, where he composed many of his famous pieces. His music influenced later composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi. The Gabrieli family played a significant role in the evolution of choral and instrumental music during their time.
