Gabapentinoids
Gabapentinoids are a class of medications primarily used to treat nerve pain and certain types of seizures. The two most common gabapentinoids are gabapentin and pregabalin. They work by affecting the way nerves send messages to the brain, helping to reduce pain and improve seizure control.
These medications are often prescribed for conditions like diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and fibromyalgia. While generally considered safe, gabapentinoids can have side effects, including dizziness, fatigue, and potential dependency, so they should be used under medical supervision.
