GPS system
The GPS system, or Global Positioning System, is a satellite-based navigation system that allows users to determine their exact location anywhere on Earth. It consists of a network of at least 24 satellites orbiting the planet, which send signals to GPS receivers. By calculating the time it takes for these signals to reach the receiver, the system can pinpoint the user's location in terms of latitude, longitude, and altitude.
GPS technology is widely used in various applications, including driving directions, mapping, and outdoor activities like hiking and geocaching. It is also essential for aviation, maritime navigation, and military operations, providing accurate positioning and timing information.
