GALEX
GALEX, or the Galaxy Evolution Explorer, was a space telescope launched by NASA in 2003. Its primary mission was to study the ultraviolet light emitted by stars and galaxies, helping scientists understand how galaxies evolve over time. By observing the universe in ultraviolet wavelengths, GALEX provided valuable insights into star formation and the lifecycle of galaxies.
The telescope operated until 2013, completing its mission with over 1.5 million images of the sky. GALEX contributed significantly to our knowledge of the universe, including the discovery of new galaxies and the identification of distant cosmic phenomena.
