Fujisan
Fujisan, or Mount Fuji, is Japan's highest peak, standing at 3,776 meters (12,389 feet). It is an active stratovolcano located on Honshu Island, about 100 kilometers (62 miles) southwest of Tokyo. Known for its symmetrical cone shape, it is a symbol of Japan and a popular subject in art and photography.
The mountain is part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and is surrounded by beautiful lakes and forests. Climbing Fujisan is a popular activity, with thousands of hikers attempting the ascent each year during the climbing season, which typically runs from early July to early September.
