French Overseas Collectivities
French Overseas Collectivities are unique administrative divisions of France located outside the European continent. They possess varying degrees of autonomy and are governed by specific laws that differ from those in mainland France. Examples include Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Saint Martin, and Wallis and Futuna.
These collectivities have their own local governments and can make decisions on certain matters, such as education and transportation. However, they remain under the sovereignty of France and rely on it for defense and foreign affairs. This structure allows them to maintain cultural identity while benefiting from French support.
