Fratercula arctica
The Atlantic puffin, scientifically known as Fratercula arctica, is a seabird found primarily in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is easily recognizable by its colorful beak, which is bright orange and blue during the breeding season. Puffins are excellent swimmers, using their wings to propel themselves underwater while hunting for fish.
Fratercula arctica typically nests in colonies on coastal cliffs and islands. They dig burrows or use crevices to lay a single egg each breeding season. Puffins primarily feed on small fish, such as sandeels, and are known for their distinctive, clumsy flight and social behavior.
