Francisco Oller
Francisco Oller was a prominent Puerto Rican painter and educator, born on June 17, 1833, in San Juan. He is best known for his contributions to the Impressionist movement and for being one of the first artists to gain international recognition from Puerto Rico. Oller studied in Paris and was influenced by renowned artists like Édouard Manet and Claude Monet.
Throughout his career, Oller created a diverse range of works, including landscapes, portraits, and scenes of everyday life. He also played a significant role in promoting art education in Puerto Rico, founding the Academy of Fine Arts in San Juan. Oller passed away on May 17, 1917, leaving a lasting legacy in the art world.
