Francisak Skaryna
Francisak Skaryna was a notable Belarusian printer and humanist, born around 1490 in Polotsk, which is now part of modern-day Belarus. He is best known for being one of the first to print books in the Belarusian language, significantly contributing to the spread of literacy and culture in the region during the Renaissance.
Skaryna's most famous work is the Bible, which he began printing in 1517 in Prague. His efforts not only promoted the use of the Belarusian language but also laid the groundwork for future generations of writers and scholars in Eastern Europe.
