Francesco Durante
Francesco Durante (1684-1755) was an Italian composer and music teacher, known for his contributions to the Neapolitan school of music. He was born in Naples and became a prominent figure in the Baroque period, particularly recognized for his sacred music and operas. Durante's works often featured rich harmonies and expressive melodies, reflecting the style of his time.
Durante was also an influential educator, teaching many notable composers, including Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and Niccolò Jommelli. His teaching methods and compositions helped shape the development of Italian music in the 18th century. Despite his significant impact, Durante's music is less frequently performed today compared to his students.
