Fourth Plinth
The Fourth Plinth is a public art installation located in Trafalgar Square, London. It was originally intended to hold a statue, but the plinth remained empty for many years. In 1999, it was transformed into a space for contemporary art, showcasing a rotating series of sculptures by various artists.
Each artwork displayed on the Fourth Plinth aims to provoke thought and engage the public. The project has featured works by notable artists, including Marc Quinn and David Shrigley, contributing to discussions about art, culture, and society in a prominent public space.
