Fort Wolters
Fort Wolters was a United States Army installation located in Mineral Wells, Texas. Established in 1941, it served primarily as a training base for helicopter pilots during the Vietnam War era. The fort was named after Major General John A. Wolters, who played a significant role in military aviation.
The installation was officially closed in 1973, and much of the land has since been repurposed for civilian use. Today, Fort Wolters is remembered for its contributions to military training and its impact on the local community, with remnants of its history still visible in the area.
