Fort Stevenson
Fort Stevenson was a military outpost established in 1867 near the shores of Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota. It was built to protect settlers and maintain peace with Native American tribes during the westward expansion of the United States. The fort played a significant role in the region's history until it was abandoned in 1883.
Today, Fort Stevenson is part of Fort Stevenson State Park, which offers recreational activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping. Visitors can explore the remnants of the fort and learn about its historical significance through interpretive programs and exhibits.
