Fort Michilimackinac
Fort Michilimackinac is a historic fort located in Mackinaw City, Michigan. Built by the French in the early 18th century, it served as a key military outpost and trading center. The fort was strategically positioned near the straits of Mackinac, allowing control over the fur trade routes and access to the Great Lakes.
In 1761, the British took control of the fort after the French and Indian War. It played a significant role during the American Revolutionary War and was eventually abandoned in 1781.
