Fort Clinton
Fort Clinton was a military fortification built during the American Revolutionary War, located in present-day West Point, New York. Constructed in 1776, it served as a strategic point for the Continental Army to defend the Hudson River against British forces. The fort was named after George Clinton, who was the governor of New York at the time.
The fort played a crucial role in several battles and was part of a larger network of defenses in the area. Although it was eventually abandoned, Fort Clinton remains a significant historical site, reflecting the military strategies used during the war for independence.
