Formic (Ant)
Formic, commonly known as an ant, is a small insect belonging to the family Formicidae. Ants are social creatures that live in organized colonies or communities, which can consist of thousands to millions of individuals. They are found almost everywhere on Earth, except in extreme environments like Antarctica.
Ants play a crucial role in ecosystems by aerating the soil, decomposing organic material, and controlling pest populations. They communicate and work together using pheromones, which are chemical signals. With over 12,000 known species, ants exhibit diverse behaviors and adaptations, making them a fascinating subject of study in the field of entomology.
