Foreign Service Officers
Foreign Service Officers (FSOs) are professionals who represent their country in diplomatic missions around the world. They work for the U.S. Department of State and are responsible for promoting national interests, managing diplomatic relations, and assisting citizens abroad. FSOs engage in various activities, including negotiating treaties, providing support during crises, and fostering economic and cultural ties.
To become an FSO, candidates must pass a rigorous selection process, which includes written exams and interviews. Once selected, they undergo extensive training in areas such as international relations, foreign languages, and cultural awareness to prepare for their assignments in different countries.
