Ford-Class
The Ford-Class is a class of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers used by the United States Navy. Designed to replace the older Nimitz-Class, these carriers feature advanced technology, improved flight deck efficiency, and enhanced capabilities for launching and recovering aircraft. The first ship in this class, the USS Gerald R. Ford, was commissioned in 2017.
One of the key innovations of the Ford-Class is the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS), which replaces traditional steam catapults. This system allows for smoother and more precise launches of various aircraft, increasing operational flexibility. The Ford-Class carriers are also designed to support future technologies and missions.
