Foot Fractures
A foot fracture is a break in one of the bones in the foot, which can occur due to trauma, overuse, or certain medical conditions. Common symptoms include pain, swelling, bruising, and difficulty walking. The foot consists of 26 bones, and fractures can happen in any of these bones, including the metatarsals and phalanges.
Diagnosis typically involves a physical examination and imaging tests like X-rays. Treatment may vary depending on the severity of the fracture and can include rest, ice, compression, elevation (RICE), immobilization with a cast or boot, and in some cases, surgery. Proper healing is essential to restore function and prevent complications.
