Font-de-Gaume
Font-de-Gaume is a prehistoric cave located in the Dordogne region of France. It is renowned for its remarkable collection of cave paintings, which date back to the Upper Paleolithic period, around 17,000 years ago. The artwork primarily features bison, horses, and other animals, showcasing the artistic skills of early humans.
Discovered in 1901, Font-de-Gaume is one of the few caves with polychrome paintings that remain accessible to the public. The site is part of the larger Vézère Valley, which is home to several other significant prehistoric sites, including Lascaux, another famous cave known for its stunning wall art.
