Fluorocarbons
Fluorocarbons are a group of chemical compounds that contain carbon and fluorine atoms. They are often used in various industrial applications, including refrigeration, air conditioning, and as propellants in aerosol sprays. Their unique properties, such as stability and low reactivity, make them effective for these purposes.
However, some fluorocarbons, particularly chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), have been linked to environmental issues, including ozone layer depletion. Due to their harmful effects, many countries have phased out the use of certain fluorocarbons under international agreements like the Montreal Protocol.
