Flour Beetles
Flour beetles are small insects belonging to the family Tenebrionidae. They are commonly found in stored grain products, such as flour, rice, and cereals. The two most common species are the red flour beetle and the confused flour beetle. These pests can cause significant damage to food supplies by feeding on the grains and contaminating them with their droppings.
Flour beetles are typically about 1/8 to 1/4 inch long and have a reddish-brown color. They thrive in warm, dry environments and can reproduce quickly, leading to large infestations. Proper storage of food in airtight containers can help prevent these pests from becoming a problem in homes and food facilities.
