Flevopolder
Flevopolder is a large polder located in the Netherlands, specifically in the province of Flevoland. It was created by reclaiming land from the IJsselmeer, a large lake formed by the closure of the Zuiderzee. The construction of the Afsluitdijk dam in the 1930s allowed for this land reclamation, which began in the 1950s.
Covering approximately 970 square kilometers, Flevopolder is the largest polder in the Netherlands. It is primarily used for agriculture, with fertile soil supporting various crops. The area is also home to several towns, including Lelystad and Almere, which have developed as part of the country's ongoing efforts to manage water and land use.
