Five Laws of Library Science
The "Five Laws of Library Science," formulated by S.R. Ranganathan, are foundational principles guiding library services. The first law states that books are for use, emphasizing accessibility. The second law asserts that every reader their book, highlighting the importance of matching materials to user needs.
The third law, every book its reader, suggests that all materials have potential users. The fourth law states that save the time of the reader, advocating for efficient organization and retrieval of information. Finally, the fifth law, the library is a growing organism, reflects the need for libraries to adapt and evolve with changing user demands.
