Financial Reporting Council
The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is an independent regulatory body in the United Kingdom responsible for overseeing corporate governance and financial reporting. Its main role is to ensure that companies adhere to high standards of accounting and auditing, promoting transparency and accountability in financial statements. The FRC also sets the framework for the UK Corporate Governance Code.
In addition to its regulatory functions, the FRC is involved in monitoring the quality of audits and the performance of accounting firms. It works to enhance the integrity of financial reporting, thereby fostering trust among investors and the public in the financial markets.
