Field Goals
A field goal is a scoring play in American football where the offensive team attempts to kick the ball through the opponent's goalposts. It is worth three points and can be attempted from anywhere on the field, but the distance and angle can affect the likelihood of success. Field goals are typically executed during a fourth down when the team believes they cannot advance the ball for a first down.
To attempt a field goal, the team will usually set up a placekicker and a holder. The holder receives the snap from the center and positions the ball for the kicker, who then aims to kick it between the uprights. Successful field goals can be crucial in close games, often determining the outcome.
