Field Goal
A field goal is a scoring play in American football where the offensive team attempts to kick the ball through the goalposts of the opposing team. This can be done from anywhere on the field, but it is most commonly attempted within 50 yards of the goalposts. A successful field goal is worth three points.
To execute a field goal, the team typically sets up a snap from the center to the holder, who places the ball for the kicker. The kicker then aims to strike the ball cleanly, sending it soaring between the uprights of the goalposts.
