Fibularis Longus
The Fibularis Longus is a muscle located in the lateral compartment of the lower leg. It plays a crucial role in foot movement, particularly in eversion, which is the action of turning the sole of the foot outward. This muscle also helps support the arch of the foot, contributing to overall stability during walking and running.
Originating from the head and upper part of the fibula bone, the Fibularis Longus travels down the leg and attaches to the base of the first metatarsal and the medial cuneiform bone in the foot. Its function is essential for activities that involve lateral movements, making it important for athletes and individuals engaged in various physical activities.
