Ferenc Erkel
Ferenc Erkel was a Hungarian composer and conductor, born on November 7, 1810, in Gyula, Hungary. He is best known for his operas, particularly Bánk bán, which is considered a cornerstone of Hungarian opera. Erkel also played a significant role in the development of Hungarian music and was a key figure in the establishment of the Hungarian National Opera.
In addition to his work in opera, Erkel was a talented pianist and music educator. He served as the first director of the Hungarian State Opera House and contributed to the promotion of Hungarian folk music. Erkel passed away on June 15, 1893, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of classical music.
