Fengtian Clique
The Fengtian Clique was a powerful military and political faction in early 20th century China, primarily active during the Warlord Era. It originated from the northeastern province of Fengtian (now Liaoning) and was led by warlords like Zhang Zuolin. The clique played a significant role in the fragmentation of China after the fall of the Qing Dynasty, as various warlords vied for control over different regions.
The Fengtian Clique was known for its strong military forces and economic influence, particularly in the northeast. It often clashed with other warlord factions, such as the Zhili Clique and the Anhui Clique, as they sought to expand their territories and power. The faction's dominance began to decline in the late 1920s with the rise of the Nationalist Party and the eventual unification efforts led by Chiang Kai-shek.
