Faroe Islands Football League
The Faroe Islands Football League, officially known as the Betri deildin, is the top professional football league in the Faroe Islands. Established in 1942, it features a league format where teams compete for the championship title. The league typically consists of ten teams, and the season runs from March to November.
Teams in the league play each other twice, once at home and once away, accumulating points for wins and draws. The league champion qualifies for the UEFA Champions League, while lower-ranked teams may face relegation to the second tier, known as the 1. deild.
