Fanny Hill
"Fanny Hill," officially titled "Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure," is an 18th-century novel written by John Cleland. First published in 1748, it is considered one of the first erotic novels in English literature. The story follows the life of Fanny Hill, a young woman who navigates her experiences in love and sexuality while working as a prostitute in London.
The novel is notable for its explicit content and exploration of sexual themes, which led to legal controversies and censorship over the years. Despite this, "Fanny Hill" has remained influential, often studied for its literary merit and its reflection of societal attitudes towards sexuality during the Enlightenment period.
