Falkland War
The Falklands War was a conflict between Argentina and the United Kingdom that took place in 1982 over the disputed Falkland Islands, located in the South Atlantic Ocean. Argentina claimed sovereignty over the islands, which they call the Malvinas, leading to a military invasion on April 2, 1982. The UK responded by sending a naval task force to reclaim the islands.
The war lasted for about ten weeks, ending on June 14, 1982, with the surrender of Argentine forces. The conflict resulted in the deaths of 649 Argentine soldiers, 255 British soldiers, and three Falkland Islanders. The war solidified British control over the islands, which remain a British Overseas Territory today.
