Falco peregrinus
The Falco peregrinus, commonly known as the peregrine falcon, is a bird of prey renowned for its incredible speed. It can reach speeds of over 240 miles per hour during its characteristic hunting stoop, or dive. This species is found on every continent except Antarctica and thrives in a variety of habitats, including urban areas, cliffs, and open landscapes.
Peregrine falcons are medium-sized birds with long wings and a pointed tail. They have a distinctive blue-gray plumage on their backs and a white underside with dark streaks. Their diet primarily consists of other birds, which they catch mid-air using their exceptional agility and keen eyesight.
