FARC-EP
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army (FARC-EP) is a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla group founded in 1964. Initially formed to advocate for rural workers' rights, it became involved in drug trafficking and kidnappings to fund its activities. The group has been a significant player in Colombia's internal conflict, which has lasted for decades.
In 2016, FARC-EP signed a peace agreement with the Colombian government, leading to its disarmament and transformation into a political party. Despite this, some dissident factions continue to operate outside the peace process, contributing to ongoing violence in certain regions of Colombia.
