F-80 Shooting Star
The F-80 Shooting Star was an early jet fighter developed by Lockheed during World War II. It was the first jet aircraft to be used operationally by the United States Air Force and played a significant role in the Korean War. The F-80 was powered by a General Electric J33 turbojet engine, allowing it to reach speeds of over 500 miles per hour.
With a sleek design and a wingspan of 38 feet, the F-80 featured a conventional layout with a tailplane and a single engine mounted at the rear. It was equipped with six .50 caliber machine guns and could carry bombs and rockets, making it versatile for various combat missions.
