F-111 Aardvark
The F-111 Aardvark is a supersonic, variable-sweep wing aircraft developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force. It was designed for both tactical strike and strategic bombing missions, featuring advanced avionics and a unique design that allowed its wings to change position for optimal performance at different speeds.
First introduced in the 1960s, the F-111 served in various conflicts, including the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. Its ability to fly at low altitudes and evade radar made it a valuable asset. The aircraft was retired in the 1990s, replaced by newer models like the F-15 and F-16.
