Extravehicular Mobility Units
Extravehicular Mobility Units (EMUs) are specialized spacesuits designed for astronauts to wear during activities outside their spacecraft, such as during spacewalks. These suits provide life support, mobility, and protection from the harsh environment of space, including extreme temperatures and micrometeoroids.
EMUs are equipped with a helmet that offers a clear view and communication systems, as well as gloves that allow for dexterity while handling tools. The suits are also designed to maintain pressure and supply oxygen, ensuring the astronaut's safety while working in the vacuum of space, such as during missions to the International Space Station or Moon.
