Extra Innings
Extra Innings is a term used in baseball to describe the additional periods of play that occur when a game is tied at the end of the standard nine innings. Each extra inning allows both teams a chance to score, and the game continues until one team has a higher score at the end of an inning.
In Major League Baseball, if the game remains tied after a certain number of extra innings, the rules may change to expedite the game. For example, starting in the 10th inning, a runner is placed on second base to increase the chances of scoring and shorten the game duration.
