External Oblique Muscles
The external oblique muscles are a pair of large, flat muscles located on each side of the abdomen. They are part of the abdominal wall and play a crucial role in trunk movement and stability. These muscles help in bending the torso sideways and rotating it, allowing for a range of motions during activities like twisting and bending.
Originating from the lower ribs, the external obliques insert into the pelvis and the midline of the abdomen. They work in conjunction with other abdominal muscles, such as the internal oblique muscles and the rectus abdominis, to support posture and protect internal organs.
