Exosystem
An exosystem is a concept from ecological systems theory that refers to the larger social systems that indirectly influence an individual’s development. It includes environments that do not directly involve the individual but still affect their experiences and opportunities. For example, a parent’s workplace or community resources can shape a child’s life without the child being directly involved in those settings.
In an exosystem, factors such as government policies, media, and economic conditions play a significant role in shaping the context in which individuals live. These external influences can impact aspects like education, healthcare, and family dynamics, ultimately affecting personal growth and well-being.
