Evening Star (Venus)
The Evening Star, commonly known as Venus, is the second planet from the Sun and is often visible in the western sky after sunset. It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty due to its bright appearance. Venus is similar in size and composition to Earth, making it a terrestrial planet, but it has a thick atmosphere composed mainly of carbon dioxide, leading to extreme greenhouse gas effects.
Venus is often referred to as the Evening Star when it appears in the evening sky, but it can also be seen in the morning, earning it the name "Morning Star." Its brightness is a result of sunlight reflecting off its dense cloud cover. Despite its beauty, the surface temperature of Venus is extremely hot, averaging around 900 degrees Fahrenheit (475 degrees Celsius).
