Eusebio Francisco Kino
Eusebio Francisco Kino was a Jesuit missionary and explorer born on August 10, 1645, in Trento, Italy. He is best known for his work in the Sonoran Desert region of present-day Mexico and Arizona. Kino played a significant role in establishing missions and promoting agriculture among the indigenous peoples, particularly the Pima and Yaqui tribes.
Kino's explorations helped map the area and contributed to the understanding of the geography of the Southwestern United States. He founded several missions, including Mission San Xavier del Bac, which is still an important cultural site today. Kino passed away on March 15, 1711, leaving a lasting legacy in the region.
