European garden spider
The European garden spider, scientifically known as *Araneus diadematus*, is a common species found across Europe. It is easily recognizable by its round body and distinctive white cross pattern on its back. These spiders typically build large, circular webs in gardens, forests, and fields, where they catch insects for food.
Adult European garden spiders can grow up to 20 millimeters in body length. They are most active during the late summer and early autumn months. While their bite is not harmful to humans, they play a crucial role in controlling pest populations in gardens and natural habitats.
