European badgers
The European badger (Meles meles) is a nocturnal mammal found across Europe and parts of Asia. They have a distinctive appearance, characterized by a stocky body, short legs, and a broad head with black and white facial markings. Badgers typically live in social groups called clans, which inhabit extensive underground burrow systems known as setts.
European badgers are omnivorous, feeding on a varied diet that includes earthworms, insects, fruits, and small mammals. They play a crucial role in their ecosystem by helping to control insect populations and aerating the soil through their digging activities.
