European Hornet
The European Hornet (Vespa crabro) is a large wasp native to Europe and parts of Asia. It can grow up to 5 centimeters in length and is recognized by its yellow and brown striped body. These hornets build their nests in tree hollows, attics, or other sheltered areas, using chewed wood fibers mixed with saliva to create a paper-like material.
European Hornets are social insects that live in colonies, which can contain several hundred individuals. They primarily feed on other insects, fruits, and sugary substances. While their sting can be painful, they are generally not aggressive unless their nest is threatened.
