European Hedgehog
The European Hedgehog is a small, nocturnal mammal found across Europe, known for its distinctive spiny coat. Typically weighing between 1 to 2 kilograms, it has a round body, short legs, and a pointed snout. Hedgehogs are primarily insectivorous, feeding on insects, worms, and small invertebrates, and they play a vital role in controlling pest populations.
These creatures are most active during the night and often seek shelter in dense vegetation or underbrush. During colder months, the European Hedgehog hibernates, curling into a tight ball to conserve heat. Their unique defense mechanism involves rolling into a ball, using their spines to deter predators.
