European Badger
The European Badger (Meles meles) is a nocturnal mammal found across Europe, known for its distinctive black and white facial markings. It has a robust body, short legs, and a bushy tail, typically weighing between 6 to 12 kilograms. Badgers are social animals, often living in groups called clans in extensive underground burrows known as setts.
These animals primarily feed on earthworms, insects, and small mammals, playing a vital role in their ecosystem by controlling pest populations. The European Badger is protected in many countries due to habitat loss and hunting pressures, highlighting the importance of conservation efforts for this species.
