European Atomic Energy Community
The European Atomic Energy Community (EURATOM) was established in 1957 to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy in Europe. It aims to ensure the safety and security of nuclear energy, facilitate research, and foster cooperation among member states. EURATOM also regulates the nuclear industry and oversees the supply of nuclear materials.
EURATOM is part of the broader framework of the European Union (EU) and works alongside other institutions to develop energy policies. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that nuclear energy is used responsibly, while also addressing issues related to nuclear waste and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
